Meet Dr. Lamons
John W. Lamons, DDS, FACD, FICD, PFA
A Love for Healthy, Happy Smiles.
I’ve had dentistry in my blood since kindergarten. I’m a third-generation dentist in the Greeneville, TN area, and can’t imagine a more perfect profession. What other field would allow me to help my friends and neighbors improve and keep their most important possessions: their oral health and their smile?
In the 30 years, I’ve been a practicing dentist I’ve met many amazing people. Our conversations, and the bonds that form, are rewarding. Each person has their own stories to tell, about their families, lives, and passions. I’m honored when they share parts of their life with me and love being part of their world.
It’s always my goal to support and help my patients. That starts with listening to their care goals. Whether they’re in dental pain, need treatment to restore function, or want to make their smile even more beautiful, I can help, but only if I know what they desire.
This holds true for the remarkable people on my team: each person is here to help, and we’re committed to making every visit comfortable and positive. We enjoy laughing with our patients, making them feel at home and part of our family.
Education and Continuing Education
- Undergraduate degree, Clemson University
- Doctorate of Dental Surgery, University of Tennessee Health & Science Center College of Dentistry
Dentistry is a constantly evolving field. Revolutionary technologies and treatments are always being developed. These changes mean a better care experience and stronger, longer-lasting results for patients. It’s my responsibility, as a dentist, to be current on the developments.
Each year I complete many hours of continuing dental education. I’ve studied communication management, sedation dentistry, care for sleep apnea, cosmetic enhancements, and laser treatment, to name but a few topics.

Personal Life
When not caring for my patients, my priority is time spent with my wife, Paula, and my family. My son, Ben, is married to Kristina; my daughter Morgan is married to Matt. Morgan and Matt have two children: Samuel and Levi. My daughter Katie is also a dentist here at Smile Solutions.
I enjoy spending time on the golf links, playing tennis, and being on the lake. I’ve been a Kiwanis member for almost 30 years, and I’m a lifelong member of Asbury Church, too.
